  1. VIDBLITZ is a small utility I wrote that I thought I would share with you all.
  2. The purpose of this program is to determine the performance of your video
  3. card. When you run the program, your screen turns black for a few seconds.
  4. During this time, VIDBLITZ writes and reads data to and from video memory,
  5. timing the results. The timing statistics appear on the screen afterwards.

  7. I wrote this program since none of the existing video card test-utilities
  8. seemed to clock what is important to me: Raw DOS Transfers. Included in the
  9. file DSP64300.TXT are the results from my own video card, a Chips &
  10. Technologies DSP64300 VLB card. In the file VIDCARDS.TXT you can find the
  11. timing results from several other video cards. These timings come from the
  12. people who have sent me the results from their video card. I would be happy
  13. if you would send me the results from YOUR card. You can do this in the
  14. following way:

  16. Pipe the timing results to a file:
  17.  
  18. VIDBLITZ -S > MYCARD.TXT
  19.  
  20. Edit the text file and insert the following important machine
  21. specifications:
  22.  
  23. - The CPU clock speed and the brand/model of your CPU
  24. - The brand/model of your video card (including the chipset)
  25. - The type and amount of video RAM on the video card
  26. - The bus type and bus version
  27.  
  28. Example:

  30. "INTEL 80486 DX/2 processor running at 66.67 (67) Mhz VESA Local Bus Diamond 
  31.  Stealth 32 (TSENG ET4000/w32p chipset with 2 MB DRAM installed"
